USF football announces future schedule shake-up
Several games in South Florida’s upcoming football schedule against Atlantic Coastal Conference teams were revealed to be postponed on Tuesday.
Headlining the Bulls’ (1-11, 0-8 AAC) newly rescheduled lineup are matchups against ACC teams such as Louisville, Miami and North Carolina State.
This shuffling of the schedule is due to the ACC asking its members to implement more Power Five conference competitions into their schedules. Pushing back the dates gives USF more time to meet that criteria or negotiate a buyout with the American Athletic Conference, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
South Florida was originally set to face Louisville (8-5, 4-4 ACC) at Raymond James Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024, but the game was moved to Sept. 4, 2027. The Bulls’ away battle with the Cardinals in the 2026 season takes place on Aug. 31, 2030.
Miami (5-7, 3-5 ACC) was expected to take on USF in Tampa on Sept. 4, 2027, however, its contest moved up to Sept. 21, 2024. The Wolfpack (8-5, 4-4 ACC) was scheduled to visit Tampa on Sept. 14, 2024, but their game was delayed to Sept. 8, 2029.
USF has totaled four wins in the past three seasons and is in the middle of a transition period under new head coach Alex Golesh. Fans like Joseph Farell took to social media to react to the new football schedule. Farell acknowledged the opportunity for growth the new schedule could give the team on Twitter.
“An easier schedule in 2024 is what we need,” Farell said. “It gives time for Golesh to build a stronger team.”
This could actually be good news for us. They’re pushing our P5 games back further

Other opponents had their matches shifted to replace the ACC timeslots. A home game with Western Kentucky on Sept. 21, 2024, was pushed back to Sept. 20, 2031.
The Bulls will split two matchups against Southern Mississippi. One on the road on Sept. 14, 2024, and one at home on Sept. 23, 2028. USF also added two home contests with Bethune-Cookman, first on Aug. 31, 2024, and then on Sept. 16, 2028.
Rounding out the additions is a home battle against South Carolina State on Sept. 20, 2025. The Bulldogs (3-8, 1-4 MEAC) will take the place of a previously scheduled matchup with San Jose State.
