Gas leak on campus affects Student Health Wellness Center, REC

Students and staff on campus were instructed to stay inside while a gas leak is in the process of being contained, according to an emergency notification text sent out by USF at 5:51 p.m. on Tuesday.

The gas leak affected areas near the Recreation Center, Student Health and Wellness Center and Lot 22. This is the second gas leak in this area this year, with the first occurring on April 11.

Those on campus were instructed to avoid the area until further notice.

The text also stated emergency personnel were responding to the scene.

A follow-up text sent out at 6:17 p.m. stated there had been no new advances in containing the gas leak and there would be no further communication until new developments occurred.
