Live updates: USF vs. Miami

USF football will take on Miami in a primetime intrastate battle Saturday night.

The Bulls (2-1) look to curtail the Hurricanes (3-0) who are led by senior quarterback Cam Ward — whose 11 touchdown passes lead the nation.

(Q1 – 15:00) Miami: 0, USF: 0 – The Bulls win the coin toss, and defer. Hurricanes will receive the kickoff.

(Q1 – 14:12) Miami: 0, USF: 0 – Cam Ward converts the third down conversion with a 17-yard pass to Hurricanes receiver Xavier Restrepo.

(Q1 – 12:08) Miami: 0, USF: 0 – Ward scrambles to the Bulls 21-yard line, a USF penalty moves the ball to the 11.

(Q1 – 11:36) Miami: 0, USF: 0 – Another USF penalty. Miami ball on the 2 yard line.

(Q1 – 11:33) Miami: 7, USF: 0 – Miami caps off the 7 play, 75 yard drive with a 3 yard rushing score from running back Damien Martinez. Hurricanes are on the board.

(Q1 – 11:02) Miami: 7, USF: 0 – USF quarterback Byrum Brown draws the 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty with the hit out of bounds. Bulls marching into enemy territory.

(Q1 – 8:28) Miami: 7, USF 3: Freshman kicker Nico Gramatica drills the 58-yard kick. Bulls answer with 3.

(Q1 – 6:52)  Miami: 7, USF 9: USF wide receiver Sean Atkins finds Brown in the end zone, it’s a trick play for a 12-yard score. The PAT is blocked, and the score will remain 9-7.

(Q1 – 6:52)  Miami: 7, USF 9: The Bulls attempt a sneaky onside kick. There are flags on the play, and for now, it’s under review.

(Q2 – 12:09)  Miami: 14, USF 12: Bulls defensive back Aamaris Brown gets helped off the field. It appears he’s headed into the medical tent.

(Q2 – 11:16)  Miami: 14, USF 12: Ward with an attempted acrobatic flea flicker to running back Jordan Lyle on third down. Ward’s knee is down and the play is called back. Miami will punt the ball.

(Q2 -5:18)  Miami: 14, USF 12: Golesh opts to go for it on fourth down, and it’s successful. Running back Nay’Quan Wright with the 6-yard pick up to keep the drive alive.

(Q2 -4:36)  Miami: 14, USF 12: Brown with a 14-yard dart to receiver Joshua Hardeman to push the ball inside the 10-yard line. Bulls knocking on the door. Miami timeout.

It was an ugly performance all around for USF, who falls to 2-2 on the season. USF will hope to rebound to open conference play against Tulane next Saturday.
