Softball loses two in Chicago
The USF softball team dropped two games Saturday in a doubleheader against DePaul at Cacciatore Stadium in Chicago, extending the Bulls’ losing streak to five consecutive conference losses.
In the first game, the Bulls (28-18, 7-7) jumped out to a 4-1 lead on a solo home run by junior Melissa Rosas and four errors by the Blue Demons’ defense.
However, the bullpen allowed DePaul to score one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. The Blue Demons (24-9, 11-2) loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the eighth and scored a game-winning run on an infield single.
DePaul’s momentum carried over into game two. The Blue Demons scored four runs in the first inning en route to a 4-1 victory.
The Bulls return to the field Saturday when they travel to New York to take on St. John’s.
