Subway spokesman Jared to speak on campus today
In the midst of showing his support for the 2009 Tampa Bay Start! Heart Walk, the man known for shedding hundreds of pounds on a Subway diet is visiting campus today.
Jared Fogle will share his story by speaking to the USF community while walking around the campus’ track near the intersection of Maple and Willow Drive from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
When he started dieting in college in 1999, Fogle weighed 425 pounds. He now weighs 180, according to subway.com.
His story will focus on the importance of employee and student wellness and how everyone can live a healthy lifestyle.
Every one hour of regular exercise – like brisk walking – can extend a person’s life by two hours, Kate Sawa, communications and marketing director for the American Heart Association, said in an e-mail.
Raymond James Stadium is hosting the walk Saturday.
USF’s team has 407 people registered for the walk, including students, faculty and staff from both the Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses, Sawa said.
