Anor gets national honors
After his performances over the weekend, USF men’s soccer midfielder Bernardo Anor has compiled an impressive list of honors.
Anor, a redshirt junior, earned most valuable player of the Embassy Suites Kickoff Classic at Florida Gulf Coast University and also was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week.
The Venezuelan native was also the Big East Offensive Player of the Week, and was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Anor scored game-winning goals in USF’s two most recent wins – a 2-1 win against No. 8 Ohio State on Thursday and a 1-0 win over Drexel on Saturday.
In all, Anor tallied five points, scoring both goals against the Buckeyes while adding an assist. He leads the team in scoring with seven points (three goals, one assist).
The Bulls (4-1-1) play Connecticut on the road in each team’s Big East opener Friday at 7 p.m.
Bowl projections
After week three, ESPN.com’s Mark Schlabach projects USF will play in the Birmingham Bowl against Louisiana-Lafayette, while Andrea Adelson predicts the Bulls will meet Kentucky in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
