With the NCAA opening a second transfer window along with ongoing quarterback competition, the Bulls are expected to make some roster changes before football season begins this September.

The second transfer portal is open from April 15-30.

Katravis Marsh

Junior quarterback Katravis Marsh announced his decision to medically retire on Wednesday.

Marsh suffered a neck injury against SMU last year, which ultimately led to the end of his collegiate football career.

He had said he had been retired as of March 22, but didn’t make an official announcement until recently.

After coming from Miami Central High School, Marsh made four career starts for the Bulls in two seasons. He replaced injured starter Gerry Bohanon last season, throwing for 827 yards and seven touchdowns, including a three-touchdown performance in a loss against Temple.

Marsh’s sudden retirement comes in the midst of a three-way battle for the starting quarterback position. Bohanon, redshirt freshman Byrum Brown and redshirt freshman Bryce Archie are all considered to be in the running to start next season.

Demitrius Carter Jr.

Freshman wideout Demitrius Carter has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal Wednesday on Twitter, citing coaching changes as the primary reason.

Carter was a three-star prospect out of Steinbrenner High School and committed to USF in December. He racked up 48 receptions for 923 yards and 11 touchdowns during his senior year.

The Bulls are now increasingly lacking depth at receiver following the departure of Carter, after fellow receivers Xavier Weaver and Jimmy Horn Jr. transferred to Colorado in January.

Gunnar Smith

Redshirt freshman Quarterback Gunnar Smith has entered the transfer portal on Wednesday after not seeing the field during his first season.

Smith was regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the state, being the all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns in Seminole County history.

While he did not have any playing time for the Bulls, five quarterbacks actively remain on the roster.

Deaunte Hunter

Redshirt freshman linebacker Deaunte Hunter and former three-star prospect announced his intention to transfer on Wednesday, according to a retweet on his Twitter account.

Hunter had 43 tackles and 1.5 sacks along with two interceptions during his senior season at Lowndes High School. He appeared in only one game last season and still remained low on the depth chart heading into this season

Dequan Stanley

Sophomore defensive back Dequan Stanley entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, as announced on his Twitter

Stanley appeared in nine games in his two seasons at USF, recording one tackle. He caught a 73-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter against Tulane last season.

Trey Wagner

Redshirt Freshman wide receiver Trey Wagner has entered the transfer portal, as announced by BullsInsider on Twitter.

Wagner attended Southside Christian High School, helping lead them to a state championship in 2020. He saw no playing time during his freshman season.
