USF football’s game against Memphis has been moved to Saturday at 3:30 p.m., in the wake of Hurricane Milton’s forecasted effects on the area.

The game is still slated to be played at Raymond James Stadium. It was initially scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m.

Tickets will still be honored at the new date.

USF head coach Alex Golesh said that he met with Memphis and American Athletic Conference officials throughout the weekend to discuss possible impacts to the game.

Golesh said that Saturday was the next date that was “remotely feasible” for the two programs, but will assess the situation as it progresses.

“We want to obviously play a game, and Memphis wants to play a game, but understanding there are far more important things out there, which is the safety of our city and the whole coastline,” Golesh said during a Tuesday press conference.

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall as a Category 3, according to the National Hurricane Center. The Tampa Bay area is currently under a Hurricane Warning, according to the National Weather Service.

The two programs will meet again with the AAC on Thursday, Golesh said.

USF said in a press release that it will assess the overall situation and make further adjustments if it is necessary.

Golesh said team operations have been temporarily moved to Orlando, and the team will depart after practice Tuesday morning.

“The most important thing, is that for the people of Tampa, the people of this coast, is making sure from a safety perspective we can put our guys in a position to be safe,” Golesh said.

Raymond James Stadium is one of four NFL stadiums that is designated as an extreme weather shelter and disaster response site by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

It is unknown if Raymond James Stadium will be used as an emergency shelter during the storm.

The TV broadcast for Saturday’s game was not announced. The game was scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN.

This is the first time USF football has been affected by tropical weather since 2022, when the Bulls were displaced by Hurricane Ian. USF’s matchup against East Carolina was relocated to Boca Raton.
